Hemingway House

Ernest Hemingway - This is the home of Key West's most famous writer. Located in Old Town Key West Street across from the Lighthouse Museum, this beautiful house was built by wrecker Asa Tift in 1851. The Hemingway's lived in this Key West home from 1931 to 1939.  The islands first swimming pool was fitted in the backyard in additional to the rest of the extensive redecorating and refurnishing. Hemingway wrote several of his most celebrated works from his pool house office, Including: For Whom The Bell Tolls, Death In The Afternoon, The Green Hills Of Africa, and To Have And Have Not. Guided tours are offered all day every day, lasting approximately 45 minutes.
